G-SMATT G-Glass Structure

G-Glass is a laminated glass product. It is composed of a 4mm base glass coated in fluorine tin oxide (FTO) which is both conductive and transparent. We laser etch circuitry onto the FTO surface layer and then attach the LEDs at precise positions. The cover glass is placed on to the assembly. It can be any type of glass but typically it will be a heat soaked, tempered 6mm glass allowing the finished unit to be rated as a safety glass. A resin is precisely poured between the plates and hardened using UV light. The finished assembly is connected to drivers hidden in an aluminium frame by flexible printed circuit boards (FPCBs) and is then connected to DVI controllers and an external power source. The controllers determine the orientation of the panels and how video files will be played across a series of glass windows.

G-Glass is 99.7% transparent due to the patented design of micro-LED technology embedded into construction grade glass.

Identity and Brand Awareness

For many brands it can be difficult to share what you do into the community. A media façade provides you with a powerful new way to do this. At the Myungbo Art Hall in Seoul (right) they regularly display dynamic art that is being created inside the art hall. This allows them to share what they do with the community and reach people who otherwise might never enter the gallery to experience the art. In a sense, the art hall itself becomes a representation of the building’s purpose and identity.


This can work on many levels. For Chinese New Year 2016 we created an app for mobile devices that allowed people to throw digital fireworks onto the side of a building. However, there are many other things we can do with interactive technology- G-Glass can react to sound, movement, live feed - all of which may change the content displayed. With ubiquitous mobile app penetration, we could even react to the presence of certain people allowing us to personalize messaging. Architectural gaming could allow community formation around installations leading to commercial regeneration in an area through social media and finger traffic.

Sustainable Technology for Smart Cities

By choosing transparent glass that allows natural light in, you are providing the wellness that is needed for employees to create and produce. G-Glass uses far less energy and produces much less heat than LED screens with large cooling requirements. Constantly disposing LED decorative lights as they go out every 2-3 years ensures that G-Glass will have the lowest impact on the environment with its long-lasting construction grade approach to media, graphic art, and community communication and engagement for Smart Cities.

The media façade could display weather forecasts, stock tickers, local parking/traffic status, and emergency information to name but a few.

Digital Signage

G-Glass also offers classical and more dynamic forms of advertising including branded applications (clocks sponsored by companies like Tag Heuer for instance) 

When you think of a media façade, the first image that comes to mind is probably the iconic depiction of the Coca Cola advertisement on the side of a building in the 1982 Ridley Scott epic “Blade Runner.” Advertising typically warrants the first and initial economical reason for these media facades but G-Glass opens up so much more. At G-SMATT America, we want to invest in the communities with information from local school children art to live messages from the Mayor that will truly transform the cityscape to serve the community the building is located in.

Architectural Design

A sophisticated media façade allows an architect to create an aesthetically beautiful design using both physical form and light as a medium. His building can now change colour throughout the day, play with perspective to create stunning visual illusions and merge more seamlessly into its environment.

Made in Korea

We have sophisticated production facilities in South Korea that give us a significant production capacity. Our Research and Development group coordinates assembly and testing of G-SMATT G-Glass for production and continued adaptability to demand. 

We also produce our G-CUBE frames and accessories with licensed producers in the US. G-Glass, along with frames, comply with the appropriate US standards, so they're safe and reliable to use. 

G-SMATT America and Global currently hold patents that cover all our G-Glass products. Innovation is part of our DNA and we're continually working on ways to improve our products, as we hear your suggestions and feedback.
